together with rafael moneo, waterways moneo arquitectos has extended the bodega ribas, a winery in consell, mallorca, which, as a component of the old ca’n ribas recorded stately home from the eighteenth century has been saved flawless to date, with its unique notable barrel basement and winemaking stockroom. the augmentation, which is incorporated into the ca’n ribas complex, is planned for reordering the plot and its free spaces, while, being upheld by a current structure, it gives new life to spaces that were beforehand unused and enables every single existing tree to be saved.
with over three centuries of history, the ribas winery is the most seasoned winery in the island, as it was established in 1711 and has been creating wines from its encompassing vineyards from that point forward. channels moneo arquitectos and rafael moneo have incorporated the augmentation into the ca’n ribas complex, in an area that faces the new west edge of the plot and no recorded structures, which enabled the planners to give it an unmistakable façade. the proposed development’s façade appears as a straightforward shed with a gabled rooftop, which doesn’t contrast much in size from the current distribution center room. some portion of the augmentation houses the wine-production, and another part goes about as the distribution center where the containers are put away.
the new passage and gathering for guests are situated at the north finish of the augmentation, while, one story beneath, a space washed by common light fills in as the tasting room. made totally in strengthened cement, the barrel room is totally covered, exploiting the best warm and dampness conditions for the maturing of the wine. while outside, the structure keeps up an appearance and character like the current brick work structures, its inside shocks guests with an engineering made of white concrete, joined with wooden cladding and bright high quality tiles and stone, which give a contemporary character to the different spaces.
